There was a movie, right?

So we've been to two movies now, and despite the fact that they were both Hollywood movies the experience was somewhat similar. They offer the same assortment of overpriced candy and junkfood, although the popcorn comes in two flavors: salty or sugary (basically kettle-corn) and the ambiance is more or less the same.

Both times we were rushing, trying to get to the theater early enough to catch the previews. We now understand why we were the only idiots rushing (both times) since many people seem to stroll in around fifteen to twenty minutes after the posted start time.

The lights dim about five minutes early and the advertisements and a number of trailers start playing for about fifteen minutes. Then the lights come on again and we wait five minutes or so, confused about whether they forgot to start the movie before the process starts over again; another fifteen minutes of commercials and movie trailers. About forty minutes after what we thought was the movie start-time and it finally begins.

Maybe we'll catch on the third time.
